Hazy Gloom utilizes the Moveable Type content management system.

Although the initial setup for a website using a content management system appears to be longer, subsequent updates are nearly completely automated by the system: all the user must do is enter in the new content and the system automatically creates the information, updates the various archives and navigational menus, and publishes the updated pages, a process that could take considerably more time if done manually.

Hazy Gloom also incorporates some other features not used in other designs:

  • The upper left corner contains a series of images (courtesy of Danelle Taylor) that load randomly with the page.
  • The left bar contains an <iframe> that displays a reading list. The scrollbar is also blended into the window with only the arrows visible to further minimize the intrusion an <iframe> object could have on the design.
